I had to shift my focus on my particular questions for my research project. At first, I had chosen how the blogging experience would enhance the professional development of teachers. Then, I though of a better idea: How does modeling technology use during professional development sessions would entice teachers to try with a group and individual follow up sessions and how the integration increases student achievement?
This question could be broken down into several subwonderings:
- How to make sure that interested teachers do apply technology into their classroom?
- Do this integration really affect possitively into the student achievement?
- Do school has the resources for the teacher to use technology in the classroom?
Research description:At regular Faculty staff sessions it is a valuable time to showcase the use of several technology such as whiteboard, blogs, CPS, internet search and google docs, then a follow up ont the interested teaches who would like to integrate such technologies would be trained as a group or individually. After that, with a sample selection of students we would measure progress compared with a sample student group from a class that do not use technology.
The population: Teachers and students from McReynolds Middle School
Sample Size: 1 teacher and 5 students from two classes
How will I conduct the research: First We will determine a teacher class where technology is being used. Secondly, with initial data from grades and Campus assessments of a sample students we will determine their progress. Then we will compare with a sample group from a class where little or no technology is used.
We will measure and compare engagement, deepness of learning such as products samples, and academic achievement (Grades) from similar performing students.
